A miniature Grand canyon of sorts, Orvakal rock formations are gaining high popularity in the recent days. Orvakal Rock Park is located 250 kms from Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh on the highway connecting Hyderabad and Bangalore. The rocks here are mostly Silica and Quartz formations probably formed because of volcanic eruptions or a water body nearby. It is a great place for adventure enthusiasts and rookie trekkers because the rocks are small and can give you a great first hand experience of trekking.
Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department is developing this area by constructing guest houses and other tourist utilities for the visiting travel enthusiasts.
Lovers Rock at Orvakal
Although not a busy tourist location, it is a great place for photographer adventurists, curiosity driven travelers and nature lovers. Enhancing the beauty of the whole place is a river stream that passes through these rocks, thus making the whole place a great location for people to hangout with friends or family.
Oravakal Rocks in Kurnool are Silica and Quartz rock formations, possibly formed due to a now bygone volcano in the area or just by wind and a waterbody present there. These rocks span over 1000 acres of land and this adventurous site is present on the NH 18, connecting Hyderabad and Chittoor districts, about 20 kms south of Kurnool district.
The AP Tourism Board maintains this place and they even run a rock garden for travelers. There is a APTDC restaurant for passing travelers.
